Sister bar to Brooklyn's Gutter, the same bar-bowling alley format. 17 good beers but nothing too rare.
Directions - 7 train to Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue, walk north on Vernon Boulevard, turn right briefly on 46th Avenue. Alternatively, E / M train to 23rd Street-Court Square or G train to Court Square (same station complex), exit at the west end (corner of 44th Drive and 21st Street) of the E / M platforms (which is the far end if coming from the G), walk south along 21st Street, turn right on 46th Avenue for just over a block. Note you will pass Fifth Hammer Brewing Company. Note the E / M platform signs still show the old station name of 23rd Street-Ely Avenue. FROM THE FERRY LANDING at Gantry Plaza State Park, walk east, turn left on Vernon Boulevard, turn right briefly on 46th Avenue.
This is the second Gutter bar-bowling alley location to open in NYC, it is long and deep with the bowling section up a few steps in the rear - there is a wheelchair ramp fitted to the steps. There are 17 craft beers on tap, mostly sessionable and mostly from a core selection of breweries - all good quality though don't expect anything out of the ordinary. Dozens of vintage brewery trays and signs adorn the walls, plus vintage brewery lamps can be found at each table. There is a small kitchen serving snacks of sliders, hot dogs, and nachos (nothing veggie), plus the novelty of ice cream sandwiches. There are two pinball machines behind the wheelchair ramp. Strictly 21 and over, no children are permitted. Government issued photo ID is required. (8/2017)
