Coney Island Brewing Company
A good quality brewery and taproom, a true oasis in the beer desert of southern Brooklyn.
Directions - D / F / N / Q train to Coney Island - Stillwell Avenue, take the southern (main) exit, turn right on Surf Avenue, the brewery is a short distance away on the south side of the road attached to a baseball park.
Thankfully reborn with a full 10 barrel kit, this brewery previously was a tiny 'nano' operation which was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. There is a small taproom in front of the vessels with only around ten bar stools, but if the weather is good you can sit in the sizeable front courtyard. Tours are given at 1700 and 1900 Thursdays and Fridays; 1400, 1600, 1800 weekends. It is operated by a subsidiary of Boston Beer Company, the brewer known for Sam Adams beers. It is worth the trek to this far south outpost as the beers are innovative and not usually seen elsewhere (as opposed to Coney Island's bottles, which are contract brewed). (12/2015)
