The biggest of the three remaining Heartland Brewery tied houses remaining in NYC, occupying the ground floor and basement of The Empire State Building.
Directions - 6 train to 33rd Street, walk west on East 33rd Street for two blocks (passing Rattle 'n' Hum (q.v.)), turn right briefly. Alternatively, B / D / F / M / N / R / Q to 34th Street-Herald Square, walk east on West 33rd Street for one blocks, turn left briefly.
Situated in the ground floor and basement of The Empire State Building, this huge Heartland Brewery outlet - one of the biggest bars in NYC - is always popular with tourists and office workers alike. The downstairs bar is generally quieter and has a better atmosphere away from the constant passing throngs of people (the same beers are served on either level). Note that listed prices don't include sales tax, which aren't cheap anyway due to the location. This is a very elegant space inside a world famous iconic building. (9/2015)
