Directions – 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal (A / C / E trains) or Times Square-42nd Street (1 / 2 / 3 / 7 / N / Q / R / S / W trains) station complex – all the lines are connected underground. Head to the Port Authority (west) side of the sprawling station if not already there, and look for signs to the West 44th Street exit. Walk north briefly on 8th Avenue, turn left on West 45th Street for two longish blocks to 10th Avenue. Note you’ll pass Beer Culture (q.v.) on the way.
Exactly the same formula as the excellent Upper East Side Pony Bar, where all beers are $7 each – standard strength ones coming in 14oz measures while stronger or rarer offerings come as an 8oz pour. The beer menu, as with Upper East Side, is on an easy to read TV monitor. The bar’s website mirrors the list on the monitor in real time. Great bar food is served. This is the original of the two bars. (2/2015, updated 11/2015)
Excellent US draft beer only bar in Hell's Kitchen near Port Authority Bus Terminal. Good list of about 22 drafts, with many interesting beers and regular events. Small but decent selection of food - especially the sausages. Great atmosphere, especially when they tap a new beer. Not far from Valhalla.
